Current Scenario

United Nations being the foremost organization in the world focused on human rights, has recognized and acknowledged that clean air is a fundamental right of every individual. But the reality is far from true. There are more than 4 million deaths each year due to chronic respiratory diseases which can be linked directly to rising level of pollution in the world.

In the last century or two, we have witnessed increasing temperature of the earth by an average of 0.06 Celsius per decade – global temperature is rising, oceans are getting warmer and ice sheets are melting. This can be attributable to extensive destruction of forests, soil erosion, extinction of wildlife and increase in toxic gases. These devastation results are not only affecting the current living conditions, but raises big concerns about the future.
vision for our future

Our vision

At the Pallav Green Foundation, our vision is to build a sustainable planet for future generations. We believe that every individual, regardless of their circumstances, deserves access to clean air and water. Young children, the architects of tomorrow, hold the key to a sustainable future. By fostering environmental awareness in them, we aim to empower them to become responsible stewards of our planet and create a more liveable world for all.
Our Community goal

Our Mission

PGF promotes the evidence-based approach to creating policies for various initiatives like plantation, re-plantation, waste management Cleanliness drive, etc. to reduce pollution and improve air quality index. Our goal is to run community initiatives focused on:

Plantation Drives

The organization carries out plantation drives across Delhi, especially in areas where rapid degradation is taking place due to scarcity of trees. These areas are marked and saplings of Neem, Peepal, Banyan, Amaltas, Arjun, Shisham, Jamun trees etc are planted. Planting these trees not only increase forest cover for indigenous wildlife species but also improve the overall air quality.

Replantation Drive

Unfortunately, most of the trees planted by the government are without much planning and research. It's imperative to understand the soil, climate, and irrigation needs and facilities before any plantation drive. If this step is missed, it may cause catastrophic damage. For example, trees like invasive kikar, oak, willow, Eucalyptus, etc consumes around 1000 litres of water in a day. So planting them in a low- water area is not advisable. Besides due to depletion of water, they also go up to 40 meters deep in search of water, causing soil erosion. Our organization carries out responsible plantation and re-plantation drives.

Adoption of plants

We create community awareness and education around the importance of green cover and encourage people to adopt plants so that they are well taken care off. We also provide them with necessary materials or any other help.

Cleanliness Drive

It is very important to keep our environment clean. This helps in not only preventing dangerous diseases but also helps keeping our body, mind, and soul clean and peaceful. We organise cleanliness across drives the city to create awareness amongst people.

Waste Management

  • we have paid attention to the three "R's - Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. But our goal is to pay attention to the other two R's: Rot and Refuse. All the 5 R's are the great ways to eliminate waste and protect our environment! Some of the initiatives we focus on are below:
  • - Removal of single use plastic by encouraging the use of the bags made up of natural materials.
  • - Waste management by Segregation into organic & inorganic wastes
  • - Use of natural waste for composting

No honking campaign

Excessive honking, a pervasive urban nuisance, not only causes auditory discomfort but also has detrimental effects on human health. Studies have linked excessive noise exposure to increased stress, anxiety, and even cardiovascular problems. To address this pressing issue, the Pallav Green Foundation has launched a no-honking campaign in Delhi. By promoting considerate driving and reducing unnecessary honking, the foundation aims to create a more peaceful and livable urban environment for all residents.

Ditch the plastic, Use sustainable options

Single-use plastic is a major environmental hazard. As a responsible organization, we are committed to educating and empowering our community to make sustainable choices. We're driving a movement to significantly reduce/ eliminate—single-use plastics, protecting our environment and promoting sustainability. To achieve this, The Pallav Green Foundation partners with local businesses, launches awareness campaigns, and insists on eco-friendly practices. Together, by fostering a culture of sustainability, we can contribute to a cleaner, healthier future.

Ban The Bangers

Delhi, unfortunately, ranks among the world's most polluted cities. During the winter months, the city's air quality deteriorates significantly, often reaching hazardous levels due to various factors. One of the primary contributors to this pollution is the widespread bursting of firecrackers during Diwali. The Pallav Green Foundation strongly advocates for a ban on firecracker use, urging Delhi residents to refrain from this harmful tradition. By choosing not to burst firecrackers, we can significantly improve air quality, protect public health, and preserve the city's heritage for future generations.

Workshops and Events

To address environmental concerns, we conduct workshops in schools, slums, and public spaces, empowering individuals with practical solutions. Additionally, we host events to honor underprivileged and differently-abled individuals, as well as those whose contributions often go unnoticed. Through engaging methods, we educate communities about pressing challenges and their potential solutions, fostering a culture of proactive change.
